I have been following a very simple system to stay on top of my ambitious to do list.

1) At the beginning of every month I come up with my key goals that I plan to accomplish for that month

2) At the beginning of every single day I write down my MITs (most important tasks). These MITs have to be in alignment with the goals for the month.

3) During the first hour of every day, I make sure that I work on my most important task without any interruption. This way, no matter what happens during the rest of the day, I have already made significant progress towards reaching my most important goals.

Over the years, I have tried A LOT of different goal settings systems and techniques and the above is the one that works best for me.
